I love my dogs

It doesn’t matter what kind of day I have had. When I come home, it is such a warm wonderful feeling to be greeted by my four legged friends. I have several. They all have a way of competing for my affection and attention and to be doted on, each single one. I feel guilty if I put something  time consuming in the way of returning their loyal excitement. Giving them attention reduces my stress level to a healthy place and before I know it, I am back on track or at least close to it.

So, I take the time to greet them and let them know I love them and I’ve missed them too. I make sure they have their special needs met; fresh water, food, and special treats that they have earned. On my days off work I give them special attention.

I just can’t tell you the joy they bring. Looking into those bright eyes, that are looking straight back at me, tails wagging, their pink tongues hanging out of their mouths as if they are smiling. I will gently pick one or two up in my arms and stroke thier coats while they wash my jaws with their kisses.

There is nothing like walking your dog, taking them with you on short rides, letting them curl up beside you for company, or having them lay in your lap and the show is on when the begin to play.

The benefits of being a dog owner is endless. Not only do they give love, but it is just as vital that they receive love in return. It’s so important to establish a good healthy relationshio with your pet or pets. Acknowledge them. Have fun with them. Get to know your pet.

Of course there are many different breeds and sizes and with that comes their own individual personalities. Some are easier to train and control than others. If need be, put them through obedience school. It’s worth it. Whatever it takes to allow you and your friend to bond in that special kind of way. They can often sense things about you that you aren’t even aware of. They are gifted with attributes that can actually save your life.

A price tag cannot be put on the social and psychological benefits at times of deep personal loss or hurt. A pet can be a entertaining conversation piece. As you grow on them, they too will grow on you.

If you are one of those who once owned a pet and suffered the loss of that pet, and you can’t bring yourself to open your heart to another such friend, changing your mind just might be the cure. That also described me at one time. Let me encourage you. Start slow. Go by and visit some of your local pet stores. Take a look around, feel it out and think it over. Nine times out of ten, you will go back.

There are many such loving animals needing someone to grace their lives with promise. If you are interested in this kind of experience, please, by all means, adopt a pet. They need us and we need them. You will be glad you did.

I am.
